A group of Aboriginal Canadians is visiting far north Queensland to share their experiences in economic development with Queensland indigenous communities looking at agriculture, tourism and renewable energy opportunities. Romeo Crow Chief works for the Aboriginal Financial Officers Association of Canada. He says many Aboriginal Canadian communities have benefited from economic development through building strong partnerships with Government and the business sector. Aboriginal people in Canada comprise of the First Nation, Inuit and Metis people. Mr Crow Chief says there are some differences between the types of land ownership arrangements in Canada and Australia, and his First Nation community has actively pursued economic development rather than simply participating in it.
